    Lloyd Shepherd Tribute

    On Wednesday, June 24, Bro. Lloyd Shepherd went home to be with the Lord. Bro. Lloyd was a true and dear friend. We will miss him. His funeral was a wonderful experience. Lloyd's four sons spoke and gave a great homage to their father. Bro. Larry Lilly preached a great message. John Cook and I sang some of the special music, along with Bro. Lloyd's relatives. Pastor Keith Hoover led the service and did the graveside service. The verse I wrote for Bro. Lloyd was as follows:
    I first met you at a conference when I was young and green.
    You took the time to tell me the reason why you preach.
    You said the road's not always easy, but God is ever true.
    You said, "Stand tall, expose the Word; tell what God's done for you.
    Chorus: You became my hero of the faith, soldier of the cross;
    Preaching out the grand old story, 'Jesus Saves the Lost,'
    Even though you've laid your armor down and passed the torch,
    You're still my hero of the faith, soldier of the cross.

    Bro. Lloyd is where he longed to be - Heaven. We'll see you soon Lloyd.

    Lloyd's youngest son, Joshua, admonishes people to receive Christ as their Savior.

    Bro. Larry Lilly, dearest friend of Bro. Lloyd's, preaches on Lloyd wanting to be in heaven with his granddaughter Mia.

    Bro. Keith Hoover comforts Becky Shepherd and the four sons, David, Daniel, Jonathan, and Joshua, at the graveside service. The casket (Lloyd: "Just put me in a pine box and in the ground in 24 hours!") was built by his son Joshua.

    Pastor Mike Hoover, pushing his grandson on the swing at Cornerstone Baptist Church. It's what famous gramppa pastors are supposed to do.

    Mrs. Hoover also having fun with her grandson. She's the youngest grandma in the world, I was told.
